High-voltage stringing system
The challenge
Our customer needed a more efficient solution for decommissioning and reusing overhead power lines in high-voltage distribution networks. Their existing hydraulic equipment was energy-intensive, noisy, and made thread reuse complicated and time-consuming.
"It was new territory for us to think electric in terms of stringing machines. Arcim's approach to problem solving is exciting and contributes to us getting the machine that fits exactly our needs."
- Claus Jensen Gye, Project Manager, Bravida Danmark A/S
Our solution
We developed a fully electric stringing system that can handle all phase leaders simultaneously when decommissioning overhead lines. The system features automatic functions that adapt to different thread types, dimensions, pull force, tension, and speed requirements - all controlled via simple recipe inputs.
How it works
The PLC-controlled system offers precise pull and speed control with real-time monitoring. Equipment at both ends of the power line can communicate via mobile network, enhancing safety for personnel, thread, and equipment. A quick-release mechanism allows operators to remove and reuse thread quickly and efficiently - without tools. Built-in safety functions automatically stop the machine if a line becomes entangled or stuck.
Results
Faster operations
The system reduces power consumption, decommissioning and stringing time significantly.
Significantly lower energy consumption
100% electric solution eliminates hydraulic power requirements.
Better working environment
Quiet operation reduces noise exposure for operators.
Lower emissions
Electric system reduces carbon emissions.
Easier thread reuse
Quick-release system simplifies unloading the thread from the stringing machine.
Tailored performance
Adaptable to different thread types and operational requirements via recipe-based control.
